A Day in the Life: Revised

I had the strangest dream. The strangest part is that I don’t remember it. I woke up with such an odd feeling, that I immediately ate some crackers. I then got dressed and headed out for a walk. I walked all around the city. I saw a woman wearing the ugliest coat I had ever seen, which I then realized looked just like my favorite sweater. She was walking a dog. It was a lovely dog, with great big paws and a luscious coat of fur. A St Bernard, I think. I saw them for a single moment, and that dog might be the most beautiful one I had seen thus far. Anyway, I kept walking, and I passed by a flower shop. I strolled in, a small bell announcing my arrival. There was a handsome man behind the counter, who greeted me with a polite nod. I smiled back and turned to look at his arrangements. They were quite lovely, especially the Golden-rayed Lilies, which are my favorite. They were on sale, so I decided to take them with me on my little adventure. There was a small cafe a few doors down. I stopped and bought a sandwich, some crisps, and a bottle of champagne and a glass. When I exited the building, I saw a rose-colored basket, perfect for picnicking. I cleaned it up a bit, filled it with my goods. How fortunate of me, to find a basket in my favorite color. As I strolled through the city, I came upon a market place. I found a fruit vendor, and inspected her strawberries. They were plump and round, and a stunning shade of red. They looked irresistible, but I had no money. I half-jokingly offered to trade my flowers for the strawberries, and the vendor agreed. I was pleasantly surprised as I watched her gently pack the fruit. I thanked her and she laughed. I laughed as well and took my leave, heading towards the park. I found a nice secluded hilltop, with tall grass and wildflowers that danced with the breeze. I placed my basket on the hill and sat down. My sandwich, although warm, was delicious. The roast duck was very flavorful. As was the champagne, a wonderfully bubbly Pierre Jouët, my favorite. As I ate my lunch, a kite landed beside me. It was a soft blue, with a purple ribbon and small bows on its tail. A few moments later, a child reached the top of the hill. He stared at me for a moment, then at the kite, then back at me. I picked up the kite and asked him if it was his. He shook his head, suddenly becoming very shy. “S’not mine… s’my sister’s.” He stared at the ground, and I noticed that his ears were tinged pink. I smiled. It was like seeing an old reflection. “Well,” I said, handing him the kite, “tell you’re sister that it’s a wonderful kite.” He looked up at me with a blinding smile, “Of course, thanks, mister!” He took the kite and ran back down the hill. I chuckled and stood up myself. I picked up my trash, but decided to leave the basket. As much joy as it brought me, I wanted it to have some more adventures. I left it at the top of the hill, and I must say that I was quite jealous of the view it was witnessing. I made my way down the hill and smiled at passersby. My trip back home was uneventful, but not depressingly so. It let me have some time to think to myself, and think back to the events of the day. I arrived home and let out a contented sigh. I suddenly felt very tired, so I changed into the proper attire, and got into bed. I truly had a wonderful day.
